Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior political figure stated the attack left him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
